The Passing of Time - Many photographers and filmmakers have recorded the passing of time in various ways. Some have explored the subject through single images or combinations of images; others have produced a sequence of images.
I plan to explore the idea of time passing within the exam paper. I hope to do this using a variety of techniques and hope to explore techniques such as long exposure and continuous shooting.
Passing - (a period of time) going by. This can refer to a certain time frame or can also refer to the passing away of an individual (e.g. life and death).
Combinations of Images - many images joined together to make one singular image.
Sequence of Images - Puts many images together but in a sort of series. This can be done to show the different stages of movement (for example, Eadweard Muybridge).
4 Visual Examples
This example is by the photographer Kang Seon Jun. The example uses long exposure to show the passing of time. This therefore is a single image but it looks like multiple images due to the nature of long exposure. The image uses a black and white filter in order to create a more dramatic effect.
This example is by Jesus Chapa-Malacara. I like the bold colours of the image and think that they look very effective and eye-catching. The image uses long exposure and I think the blur lines also help to add more interest to the image.
This example is by Eadweard Muybridge. I like this idea and it is an example of what can be done with a sequence of images. I would like to attempt to adopt this idea into my own work and also think that this would look very effective in a variety of contexts. I also like the element of black and white and will try to adopt this into my own work.
This example is by Alexey Titarenko. I like the outcome and feel that this could be a very influential artist for my unit. I like the image and think that the black and white filter gives it a slightly unnerving feel. I also like the fact that the long exposure technique used is evident but still subtle as I feel as though this helps to add an element of mystery to the image.
