Computer Experiments

Computer Experiments

For the images below, I used Photoshop and selected 'Filter'. Once I had selected this, I then clicked on 'Filter Gallery'. This took me to a wide range of different filters where I was able to select and experiment with a variety of different filters. When I had selected the filter, I was able to slightly manipulate this as well in order to give the image the look which I wanted it to have.

Glass

This image was simplistic to create and has a subtle difference to the original. However it still looks effective and I like the blur effect which has been created due to the use of the filter.

Stained Glass

I like this image and feel that it looks effective. It lacks the sharpness of the original image but I feel that the mosaic tile effect has really allowed the audience to examine the different shades of red and also clearly shows the interesting shapes which the red food dye has created in the water.

Craquelure

I think this image looks effective but do not feel it is very different to the original. The only difference is the slightly grainy effect which can only be seen from up close. Overall, I do not feel that this experiment was as successful as the others.

Patchwork

I like this edit as I feel that it is subtle yet still effective. I like the use of the patches as I feel that it works well with the image to fully reinforce the light trails which have been created by the traffic. I like the image and feel that the filter compliments well.,

Crosshatch

This filter works well with the image as it fully reinforces the ghostly idea which the image tries to portray. I like the outcome and feel that this works well with this image. However, I do  not think this filter would work well on all images as some images require more clarity.

Ink Outlines

I like this filter on this image as I feel that it gives some areas of the image more definition. I feel that with this image this is useful as I felt that some areas, especially the girls on the swings were a little faint. I also like how this filter has made the image more vibrant as this helps to draw the audiences eye in more.

Neon Glow

To begin with, I was not sure that I liked this filter. However, after looking at it for longer, I have decided that it is effective and gives an alternative look to an image. I like how the image is defined by different shades of the same colour as I think this looks quite bold and adds some interest to the image, therefore making it more attractive to the audience.

Glowing Edges

I like this image as I feel that the filter has altered the meaning of the image. I like the way that now, the background is black and the coloured trails in the water are multicoloured and give a sort of rainbow effect. I think that this is effective as it draws the eye to the centre of the image and is also effective as at first, it is unclear as to what the image depicts. Overall, I really like the image and feel that it is the most effective and successful from all of the computer experiments using the filter gallery.
