Physical Experiments

I experimented with this image by adding coloured numbers. I painted them onto the image using acrylic paint and think that it makes the image more interesting as it gives it a fantasy feel. In some ways, this image reminds me of the story of Alice in Wonderland due to the fantasy feel to the image which is conveyed by the vibrant colours of the numbers and also their random positioning.

I also edited this image using acrylic paint by drawing cartoon flowers into the pot of flower buds. I like this idea as it presents a sketch of what the image would look like after the passing of time. I feel that this therefore works well with my topic and also feel that it looks effective and eye-catching which therefore helps to attract the audience's attention.

I edited this image rather simply. I used paint splatters to give the image a more interesting feel. The original image was fully black and white, but I feel that with the splatters of colour, the image is given a more lighthearted feel and also makes the mood of the image less solum and depressing.

I edited this image in the style of Dyren Goodwin who physically manipulates image by scratching into them. For this image I used a pair of scissors to scratch away some of the black ink from the print out. I like the outcome and feel that the manipulation has given the image a subtly more interesting feel and also is effective to make the background more striking to the viewers.

I edited this image in a slightly alternative way to my other images. I used matches to burn certain areas of the image. It makes the image look older and slightly more distressed. This could make the audience feel like the memory preserved in the image is either forgotten or has been tried to be forgotten. This works well to create a slightly unnerving feel to the photo due to the ghostly figures which were initially created by the use of long exposure.

I also edited the image above using acrylic paint. I like the outcome and think that it is subtle yet still effective. I like how it makes the figure in the image look somewhat magical and mysterious through the use of the gold and silver colours. I also think that the more watered down effect makes the image work better and somewhat allows the image to tell a story. In some ways, in my opinion, it could appear as though the figure in the image is magical and is waving some kind of wand, however, due to the fact that her hands are unable to be seen, this remains ambiguous.

I physically manipulated my final image by tearing it up and then placing it back together using tape. I like the outcome and think that the image looks effectively distorted yet not unrecognisable. I think that the image suggests that someone has tried to piece a memory back together and for this reason, the physical manipulation has allowed the image to suggest a story behind it and also have alternate meanings. Overall, I think that this manipulation was the most simplistic but one of the most effective.
