Internet Photograph

This image is from the internet and shows red food colouring diffusing in water. It could be thought to show the passing of time as it shows a specific moment in the diffusion of the food dye. I like the image and feel that the red colour stands out and looks very bold and striking against the white background. In addition, I like the fact that the glass shape is slightly original as this helps to add interest to the image and makes it more eye-catching for the audience. Overall, I really like the image and feel that it looks very bold which therefore helps to attract the audience's attention.

My Photograph

 This was a photo which I captured myself. I like the image and feel that it shows a specific time frame which is therefore effective at presenting the topic of the passing of time. I like the editing of the image as I feel that this increase in brightness helps to make the colours in the water more bold and therefore this makes the image more attractive to the audience and draws the eye in more. I like the image overall and feel that it was successful. I also like the fact that the white background helps to make the colours within the image more vibrant and eye-catching.

The Connection

Although the two images are not identical, the share many of the same qualities. Firstly, they both show red food dye diffusing in water. This is the most obvious similarity between the two images. I like the way that both the images are presented using a white background as I feel that this really helps to make the overall image bolder and also make the colour more appealing and vibrant which therefore helps to attract the audience's attention to both of the images. In addition to this, the images both can be though to show the passing of time well due to them both showing a specific moment in the movement of the food dye in the water. This therefore gives the impression of an exact moment of time stood still which I feel is a very effective and interesting concept. Although the images are rather similar, there are a few basic differences. These include the fact that the internet image is presented in a more interesting shaped glass to my image. Although I feel this looks interesting and more aesthetically pleasing for the viewer, I feel that it detracts the attention from the main subject of the image which is the specific movement of the food colour in the water. Overall, I feel that the two images are very similar and that they are both uniquely effective at showing the idea of the passing of time by capturing and presenting a specific time frame during the motion of the food dye through the water.
