Shoot 9 - Work Record
Date of Shoot -
25th March 2016

Plans for the shoot -
For this shoot, I plan to explore movement of animals which could be thought to relate to the passing of time in the same way as Eadweard Muybridge's work. My versions are likely to be slightly different to this however, as I plan on using long exposure. I plan to use a dog in my shoot as I feel that this would be the easiest animal to photograph and motivate to play!

What I hoped to achieve -
I hoped to achieve a successful series of images which showed the movement of a dog. I hoped to portray a wide range of movements and also hoped to produce bright and vibrant final outcomes in order to make the images more attractive to the audience. In addition to this, I hoped that my long exposure would be successful as this would allow my ninth shoot to clearly follow on and link to my previous ones.

What I actually achieved -
In my opinion, I managed to achieve a successful and interesting range of images which are bold and work well together. I found that the dog was a good choice of animal to photograph as it was easy to motivate and get to play. I feel that the long exposure worked reasonably well and also think that the editing played a role in making the images more eye-catching and attractive. I used Photoshop to edit the images and make them more vibrant and bold in order to enhance them further. Below shows two images from my shoot.
What I plan to do next (progression) -
For my next shoot, I plan to go back to looking at human movement but in a different way. I hope to carry out my next shoot on location and am hoping to be able to shoot people jumping on trampolines and swinging on swings as I think that this will create some fun and light hearted images. I also hope to experiment a little with continuous shooting in order to be able to perhaps overlay the images onto one another using Photoshop. I hope that this will look effective and will try to carry the next shoot out in a similar style to I did shoot 9, as I thought that the outcomes of this shoot were very effective at grabbing the audience's attention.

This is my favourite image from the shoot because I really like the way that it shows the blurred effect of the dog which was caused by the long exposure but the figures behind are not blurred and are clear. I think that this makes the image look more interesting and mysterious. I also like the colours which are in the image. I edited the image on Photoshop which caused the colours to be more vibrant and more saturated which I think looks very effective. I also like that even though the dog is blurred, you can clearly see that it is an animal running past.
I do not like this image from the shoot. It was one of the images that I took very early on. It is over-exposed and it fails to show sufficient long exposure effect which therefore makes the image irrelevant to the topic of the passing of time. In addition to this, the fact that it is extremely over exposed makes the audience struggle to see what is actually happening in the image.
