Shoot 2 - Work Record

Shoot 2 - Work Record

Date of Shoot -
13th March 2016

Plans for the shoot -
My plan for the shoot was to photograph a variety of different clocks showing different times. I then hoped to be able to edit my images using Photoshop and either layer them over each other to show the passing of time of create a photo-strip in a similar style to Eadweard Muybridge.

What I hoped to achieve -
I hope to achieve a successful series of images which clearly showed my topic of the passing of time. I also hope to edit my images using photoshop to create a more dramatic and bold look to the images. I also hoped that I would be able to shoot multiple clocks to create some variety in my images.

What I actually achieved -
I achieved a shoot which featured one clock showing different times of day. Although this was not exactly what I had hoped to achieve, it ended up looking quite effective. I liked the final outcomes and felt they looked bold and striking. I was also able to edit my images in such a way that combined them together on a photo-strip and also giving them a black and white filter which created a style which was similar to that of Eadweard Muybridge. Below shows two outcomes from my shoot.

This was the most successful outcome from my shoot. I like how the images are combined as this helps to create a sense of time passing. I also like the way that the backgrounds are block black as this makes the images blend together better and also shows the link to Eadweard Muybridge. I also like the use of black and white as I think it makes the outcome more dramatic and eye-catching for the audience.

This image was not featured on my contact sheet. I really liked this as an idea during the shoot of clocks, however, I found it to be unattainable and very difficult to achieve. As a result, the images were unsuccessful and did not work well. I found that I was unable to get the camera to sufficiently focus on the screen of the camera due to factors such as the vast quantity of natural light. In addition to this, I found that the time was very difficult to read on the phone. As a result, I regard this image as my least favourite from the shoot.

What I plan to do next (progression) -

In my next shoot, I hope to explore time in a more active way and perhaps incorporate the idea of motion into the shoot. Therefore, so my next shoot, I plan to explore trails of colour in water. I have seen this idea explored on the internet and think that it would be interesting to observe how the colours spread over a period of time. This would perhaps be a more interesting exploration of the topic area which would include the element of colour, which is likely to make the final outcomes more attractive and eye-catching to the audience.
