Internet Photograph

I found this image on the internet which shows the multiple stages of a dandelions life cycle. I like the grid pattern in the image and think that it is effective and detailed as it contains 10 images. I also like how most of the images are taken from a rather similar angle as this helps the continuity of the image. It is likely that this image tries to portray time passing in the simple form which shows life and death. I think that the image is very effective.

My Photograph

These are my photographs which have been arranged in a photo-strip style layout using Photoshop. I really liked the outcome and thought that it showed the passing of time very well. The only thing that I do not like so much is the fact that all the images are shot from slightly different distances. However, unless you really study the images, this is not noticeable. Overall, I feel that the image is very successful at showing the passing of time in a simple, yet effective way.

The Connection

The two images are not completely the same but they both have the same concept and idea behind them. They both clearly show the lifecycle of the flower and therefore show the passing of time effectively. They also both present the images in a photo-strip or grid which I think looks very effective and is an original way of presenting the multiple photographs. However, there are a few slight differences with the photographs. The first main difference is that the internet image shows a dandelion's life cycle whereas my image shows a vase of daffodils. In addition to this, the image from the internet presents 10 images rather than 5 but this may be due to the fact that the plant in this has more stages than the daffodils which I selected. I like the way that the image from the internet shows the plant very close up as this gives a better sense of the development of the plant over time. However, the images that I took which featured a vase of flowers are also effective, but just give a more distanced impression of the life cycle of multiple flowers rather than just one. In both of the images, the passing of time is clearly shown through the simple yet effective reference to life and death.
